Christmas (Old English: Crīstesmæsse, meaning "Christ's Mass") is an annual commemoration of the birth of Jesus Christ and a widely observed holiday, celebrated generally on December 25 by billions of people around the world. A feast central to the Christian liturgical year, it closes the Advent season and initiates the twelve days of Christmastide. Christmas is a civil holiday in many of the world's nations, is celebrated by an increasing number of non-Christians, and is an integral part of the Christmas and holiday season.
What is Christmas for you?
I love christmas. It is the time where I chill out with my friends, spending quality time with them, appreciating their support and encouragement.Besides, for children it is fun, food and play with gifts from Santa Claus. For the elders it is a time of family reunion. Moreover, I do share the similar point of view with Calvin Coolidge on the real spirit of Christmas. I value the peace, goodwill and overflowing with mercy throughout the year.
ReplyDeleteAs for me, Christmas is linked with the best moments of my childhood. It's realy the happiest time for me. It was very important time for me because my big family celebrated Christmas together. My grandmother, aunt and mother cooked a lot of tasty food. I liked to help them. Also together with my sister i liked to play with Christmas Tree, we imagined that it was a magic castle where magnificent creatures lived (indeed these "creatures" were ordinary Christmas-tree decorations:)))) When it got dark we lit up Christmas-tree flashlights and other Christmas illuminations in our room and then I feel I got into a fairy tale. And evening all my family gather at the holiday table wathing Christmas show and tasting wunderfull dishes. Christmas for me is associated with domestic, warm and magic atmosphere, the atmosphere of my childhood.
ReplyDeleteOf course Christmas is one of the holidays, which I celebrate, or better say spend, in my family circle. And, I think, it is not so important how we celebrate it - for the big and rich table or modestly, what we’re doing, and it doesn’t matter whether we give presents or not; the most important thing is that we gather all together, ALL. This day the atmosphere is filled with a festive mood, light, and in our souls we feel ease, peace, and happiness.
ReplyDeleteChristmas for me is a time of miracles and one of the greatest holidays. It’s a time when each family should gather around the table, forget about quarrels and problems and thank God for everything. Christmas for me has never been a continuation of New Year, it’s something special. It is associated with cold, snow evenings and my family, when we were spending time together and with a beautiful Christmas tree. I have only warm memories about this holiday.
ReplyDeleteChristmas for me, the words that come to mind are: family, food, cheer and presents. At Christmas time, my family always gather together. I love Christmas and what it means to me. The joy of the holidays, the freedom of no study and the relaxed atmosphere of doing nothing is the core of what it is to be on holiday.
ReplyDeleteI DO love this holiday because it means a lot to me. When I was a child I used to wait so impatiently for this magical time of year, I know this sounds a little selfish but I waited mostly for presents. Now it's different. You see, the atmosphere of Christmas eve inspires me greatly. As I got older, I learned to delve deeper into it's meaning. Now I love Christmas for a great chance to spend time with my family. The feeling of love and warmth is so exciting. I even have no proper words to describe it.
ReplyDeleteI really love Christmas for its MAGIC TIME!When I was a child I tried to wake up before my parents on holiday morning to open my presents...You know it's amazing how pretty everything looks with Christmas lights and snow. There are a lot of Christmas movies on TV and Christmas songs everywhere. And now for me it is time to have my whole family over for this holiday.
ReplyDeleteMany people think that sending a present once a year is Christmas. In my eyes Christmas is the birth of Jesus. Christmas is also to be with family - caring, sharing and loving and just being happy and being together. But one needs to carry that out all year through. Love, sharing, caring, keeping in touch with loved ones all year through. I believe it is Jesus's way to keep the spark lighting with Love, Joy, Peace, Happiness, and Hope.
ReplyDeleteChristmas to me means spending time with those you love and who love you. It's not about presents as a lot of kids think. It's about enjoying the time you have on this Earth. But most importantly it's about forgetting those bad feelings you might have about someone and celebrating the birth of Christ, Jesus, with the world no matter who you are.
ReplyDeleteChristmas means laughing and spending time with your family and friends but most important of all is celebrating the birth of Christ. To me CHRISTmas is a time to thank the lord for what he has done for the people on this earth and the day that he was born in Bethlehem. Christmas think that it is all about presents and material things. This is a time to forget all worries and the hatred that you have against people. This day doesn't mean go give gifts, but to realize that this is the day God sent his only son so that we might have salvation.
ReplyDeleteOhhh)))I like Christmas too much)))This holiday for me is the best, it`s better as even my Birthday day!))) This warm holiday occures in winter(also the most favourite season for me)! Besides warm words from you parents and friends, there are so many amazing means to celebrate this holiday and to sdend a spare time))) You should only act out a fantasy and the whole celebration could be unforgetable))) There are a lot of outdoor activities which would help you to be amused and amuse others, such as ski, skating, playing snowballs and making a snowmen etc. Also Christmas is closely connected with a "fairytale" in the heart, in my opinion, in everybody`s heart)))
ReplyDeleteWhen I was a child, Christmas was this magical time of year when everyone seemed so happy and so loving. It was presents, family dinners, parties, laughing, music, and pretty lights. As I got older, I gradually drifted away from the aesthetic vision of Christmas and learned to delve deeper into it's meaning. I now love Christmas for the gathering of friends and family and the feeling of love and warmth and the blessing of another year together.
ReplyDeleteI love Christmas so much, because it brings light and warm atmosphere, meetings with all relatives and presents.
ReplyDeleteChristmas is so wonderful and nice holiday, which you love from your childhood and you are waiting for all year round. Personally I expect a miracle
ReplyDeleteChristmas is a such day which is loved by many people in a different ways. For one it's just a day-off, for other it's a holiday which is observed in the family. As for me, Christmas is a day when you give presents to your relatives and close friends and have a rest from workdays, at least))
ReplyDeleteFor me, Christmas is something magical. This holiday usually makes our mood better and you feel happiness.
ReplyDeleteFor me Christmas-it's magic time, when any miracles are possible. My family spends time together and we enjoy every minute of our life
ReplyDeleteAs for me , Christmass is family holiday. I like it a lot because of the reunion of my family. Unfortunately we gather very seldom , because of us busyness.
ReplyDeleteIn Christmass despite on our preferences we stay at houme at the midnight ,because it's a tradition in our family.
of course, you are right, but i think it`s time not for family reunion only. Christmas is time to be with dear people, to enjoy a magical atmosphere around you, to choose and give gifts. And, as for me, it`s time to change something in your life. New Year is associated with new life, so why don`t you start the new year with a new you?
DeleteMaybe it depends on what Christmas is meant, that celebrated in the western countries or our Russian one)) Because I have different associations with each of them. Having watched some American and British films, I have got the inpression of their Christmas as a merry holiday celebrated in the family circle or the friends one, with a fine Christmas tree, a fireplace with stocks hanging on it, cosy snow-covered houses and streets decorated with garlands. And Santa Claus, of course, getting out of the chimney with a bag of presents))) As for our country, we have New Year as the holiday, while Cristmas, taking place on January 7th, is actually strongly connected with Orthodoxy and its traditions. I mean, on this day we usually visit chirch, pray and light candles - that's what I associate it with. But we don't celebrate it in the same way as it's done in some other countries.
